Why the price changed on moving day

Because the quote came from a phone call, and nobody looked in the garage.

How we work

Survey, then write it down

Phone estimates are the root of almost every moving dispute. A bedroom count tells a mover nothing about the garage, the attic, the shed or the piano, so the figure quoted is a guess that gets corrected on the day — when the customer has no leverage and the furniture is already halfway onto a truck.

The second thing customers rarely understand until something breaks is valuation. Basic liability is calculated by weight, which for a flat-screen television is a few dollars. It is not insurance and it is not replacement value, and the difference deserves explaining before a booking rather than during a claim.

And the practice Florida law specifically prohibits is worth naming: no mover may hold your goods to force payment of charges that were never disclosed. Anyone who threatens it is breaking the rules, and a customer who knows that is in a far stronger position than one who does not.
